So... you would like to be a model?
Do you believe you have an interesting look?
Are you interested in undertaking extras and/or video work?
Where do you want your modelling career to take you?
At
FMBN MODELLING
we nurture successful applicants until they have reached the point
where agencies provide them with work. Remember, this is a huge industry
- and opportunities are everywhere: television, magazines (Vogue, Cosmo
etc) catalogues, billboards, reality shows, internet, promotional work,
catwalk (national and international) and so on. However, before you can
start working it is essential you understand how the industry works,
and to which areas of modelling you are best suited.
Networking within modelling is very important. Contacts are just
as crucial as your ability and looks. It’s important to be prepared to
start with the smaller assignments because these can lead to the big
break you need.
Launching a modelling career, either full or part-time, begins with the product, which in modelling, of course, is YOU.
A good model agency will represent and promote you. It’s in their
interest to find you as much work as possible, because the more money
you earn - the more commission they make. However, before you can do any
of this, there are some important steps you must take:
1. Have a strong product
In order to secure paid modelling work you need a strong
portfolio, the better your portfolio the more work you will be offered.
Photographers, casting directors and other clients must feel that they
want to use you. A strong portfolio will show agencies, casting
directors and photographers what you are capable of and how adaptable
your image is.
2. Promote your product
Self-promotion is the key to getting regular and well-paid jobs.
You might have the best portfolio in the world; but if no-one sees it,
no-one sees you, and you will never get assignments. We can assist you
in directing your portfolio to the correct agencies in order to get you
signed and undertaking regular paid modelling work.
3. Hard work
This is a competitive industry - you must work hard and be
determined. The more you put in the more you will get out. Networking
and making contacts is the key to your success. Talk to, and listen to
the team you are working with. A model who is punctual, hard working and
personable will be asked back or recommended - and ultimately be
offered more work.
4. Confidence
Confidence is every model’s friend, it will shine through and
make your career a successful one. Make sure you pay attention to your
posture, and more importantly, be mindful of what the photographer is
telling you. Even the simplest pose must be executed with confidence and
attitude.
